Smooth Deep

Smooth Deep began his musical journey as a teenager in the R&B/Hip-Hop/Soul band Nesramic, formed with fellow students from Winchmore Secondary School. In 2000, the group placed third in Enfield Arts Service's Battle of the Bands competition and drew early interest from independent labels. Despite their potential, creative differences led Smooth Deep to leave the band in 2001 in search of his own sound.

Soon after, he joined Black Magic—a Hip-Hop crew featuring Black Widow and the late Black the Ripper—where he expanded his artistry as both performer and lyricist. The group recorded multiple tracks and began planning a mixtape before unforeseen tragedy brought their progress to a halt.

After a period of stepping back from music, Smooth Deep re-emerged in 2003 during college, meeting rapper-producer Day-G, with whom he founded the collective Combined Intellects. Though the group never formally released a joint project, members continued to collaborate across individual works, keeping the spirit of the collective alive.

From his early teenage performances to his evolving collaborations, Smooth Deep’s journey reflects persistence, creative growth, and an unwavering commitment to authentic expression.
